Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive

 (CSRD) will directly and indirectly affect numerous Norwegian businesses. CSRD represents a game-changer for companies' strategic sustainability work and is much more than "just" a reporting directive.

CSRD replaces the non-financial reporting directive (NFRD), implemented in Norwegian law through Section 3-3-c of the Accounting Act. CSRD aims to equate financial information with sustainability information, making comparing sustainability data from multiple companies easier. With reliable and improved data, companies can ensure strategic management, prioritisation, and reporting on what is essential.

Significance and subsequent prioritisation are critical in CSRD work: It will be necessary to conduct a double materiality analysis that identifies areas where a company has an impact and where it is itself affected by external financial factors. In addition, the directive requires companies to have strategies and goals aligned with the 1.5-degree goal of the Paris Agreement.
